Huaphanh
Province comprises an estimated 259,200 people , with an area of 16,500
square kilometres, and the population density is 16 persons/km2, spread
among 604 villages that are administered through eight districts.
Viengxai district is located in the eastern part of Huaphanh province, 28km far from the provincial capital (Xam Neua) and represents a total of 128 villages comprising a population of 34,288 people comprised of more than 27 different ethnic groups. The density of population is 8 persons/km2. Viengxay District “ the Heroic District of the Nation” is famous in LAO PDR, because it was the cradle of the Revolution. Hiding from the American heavy bombing in numerous caves, the population and the army of liberation devised the plans that lead to victory and gave birth of LAO PDR. |

Kang Red Tea. Ban Kang means Kang Village located in Viengxay District. Back ground of Red Tea Ban Kang Red Tea was introduced in 1828. It came with red phouthay minority who moved from south China / north Vietnam to migrate in Kang Village, Viengxay District, Huaphanh Province, North-East of Lao.
